Honouring a Legacy: Emeka Nnadi Park Named in Winnipeg’s South End

On June 15, 2024, the City of Winnipeg commemorated a remarkable moment in its civic and cultural history: the naming of a public park in Bridgwater Forest after Emeka Nnadi, founder and CEO of Nadi Group. The park, now officially known as Emeka Nnadi Park, is a tribute to Emeka’s lifelong contributions to architecture, urban design, and community-building across North America.

The ceremony, presided by Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham, Deputy Mayor Markus Chambers, and Acting Deputy Mayor Janice Lukes, brought together civic leaders, community members, and colleagues to celebrate not just an individual, but a vision. Emeka’s work over the past decades has transformed underutilized spaces into thriving, people-centred environments. His leadership at Nadi Group reflects a commitment to regenerative design, sustainability, and inclusive development—a legacy now permanently woven into the physical and cultural fabric of Winnipeg.

In remarks made during the event, Emeka emphasized that “design is about healing—people, land, and spirit.” This ethos is evident in the projects that bear his imprint: from vibrant urban infill developments to ecologically restorative master plans. The park naming serves not only as a recognition of his achievements but also as an inspiration for future generations of designers and dreamers.

For the Nadi Group team, this moment is deeply personal. It represents a public acknowledgment of the principles we champion every day—equity, community, stewardship—and the leadership that guides us. Emeka Nnadi Park stands as a living symbol of what’s possible when vision meets purpose.

We invite our community and partners to visit the park, reflect on its namesake’s journey, and join us in continuing the work of building a better, more beautiful world.
