Broadway Legacy, Manitoba

Introduction

Noticing that the pedestrian and vehicular experience of Broadway Street is in a gradual decline, a group of private building owners and the real estate community approached Nadi Group to develop a scalable landscape and urban design plan for this Downtown Winnipeg street.

Project Summary

Built in 1873, Broadway is one of Winnipeg’s oldest and most well-known routes. The street passes by many early buildings, including the Manitoba Legislative, Fort Garry Hotel, Provincial Law Courts Building and other heritage buildings. The project aimed to engage building owners, investors and corporate entities with operations located along the picturesque Broadway.  Our goal was to produce a plan that enhanced the pedestrian environment, stimulate local business, and generate momentum to heighten the “Broadway experience”.

Our Role

With the “Broadway experience” in mind, Nadi Group created a concept plan and renderings that highlighted the area's historic elements while harmonizing pedestrian flow within the vehicular demands of this prominent thoroughfare.
