The Nadi Group collaborated with Harris+Smith Architecture LLC to develop a feasibility study and concept for the redevelopment of Confusion Corner in Winnipeg, MB. As one of the City’s most chaotic traffic intersections—hence the name—we provided a mixed-use transit-oriented development solution to avoid further disruptions or potentially add to the saturation of traffic.
As the site is affected by several existing City of Winnipeg plans, secondary plans and functional planning documents, we developed urban design parameters, creating a protocol, for integrating vehicular and pedestrian traffic that is complementary to these policies. Also, our urban design parameters would need to incorporate the city’s recently established Bus Rapid Transit’s Osborne Station to produce a high-energy flagship project at the apex of Winnipeg’s Osborne and Corydon Villages. The proposed 18-storey retail, office and residential tower would include integrated parking and a panoramic 360-degree view of Winnipeg’s urban villages and downtown area.
We provided the client with a preliminary study, recommending potential uses for the site, while Harris+Smith built on the urban design parameters we produced, crafting an innovative architectural design solution and rendering [Images are copyrighted by Harris+Smith LLC].
