Morehouse College, Georgia

Introduction

Morehouse College is a private liberal arts college in Atlanta, GA, and the largest all-male college in the United States. Notable for its alumni (Martin Luther King Jr. and Spike Lee), Morehouse College is also renowned for its sports teams such as the Tigersharks (swim team) and the Fighting Maroon Tigers (baseball and soccer).

Project Summary

The client retained Harris + Smith as the prime architect to design the baseball stadium and parkade. Harris + Smith brought on the Nadi Group to design a comprehensive baseball stadium master plan. In our master plan, we connected the stadium complex, including three little league baseball fields, a new athletic training center, parking garage and concession, through a cohesive landscape plan and circulation network.

Our Role

We designed several public gathering spaces to give the site a strong sense of community and created wayfinding stations to easily guide visitors through the space. We also used Morehouse College colours and logos to tie the space into the rest of the campus, making it instantly recognizable as the home of the Fighting Maroon Tigers baseball team.
