The Brady Road Resource Management Facility retained Nadi Group to create a landscape plan for the Brady Landfill. The plan would address the desire for habitat creation with diversity planting, a buffer to address surrounding neighborhood concerns regarding odor, landfill litter control (windblown materials), sounds and unsightly views. The plan would also include a landscape strategy to address immediate concerns of the impacts of the landfill on newly developing neighborhoods and a 100+ year-old landscape master plan to be phased in as the city decommissions landfill sites.
As community engagement was integral to developing the master plan, the Nadi Group hosted a series of community workshops to receive public input. Also, we prepared presentations for various stakeholders, neighborhood representatives, local RMs and interested citizens to collect ideas, information and maintain public buy-in for the design. Our final master plan provided a long-term vision, a short-term landscape implementation plan along with sustainable visual and buffering typologies, incorporating trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants, which are native to Manitoba.
In addition to providing community engagement services and producing a master plan, we provided detail design and contract administration for the first phase of the sustainable vegetative buffer along the perimeter highway.
